What is Make the Stage?

Make the Stage (MTS) is a 7-week high-impact “Leadership development through Public Speaking” program specifically designed to propel you and your career to new heights and new stages.

Drawing from my experience of over 25 years leading and teaching globally, I've identified the essential knowledge, skills and mindsets that lie at the intersection of speaking and leadership. And these insights are the foundation of the Make the Stage journey.

A timeline schedule for a series of online video training modules from February to March, ending with a graduation on March 27th. The schedule lists dates, topics, and whether sessions are live online or pre-recorded.

    • Audience Analysis: Learn the importance of understanding your audience and how to conduct an effective audience analysis, enabling you to tailor your message, language, and delivery to effectively connect with your specific audience.

    • Preparing Your Content: How to conduct focused content research. How to distil content into relevant, impactful messaging that resonates with your audience. How to test content applicability and focus on the highest value-add.

    • Preparing Yourself: Discover strategies for thorough preparation, including researching your topic, organizing your content, and creating a compelling message that resonates with your audience.

  • II. Power of Positioning

    • Storytelling principles: Understand the art of storytelling and how to craft narratives that captivate your audience, evoke emotions, and convey your message effectively.

    • Story structure: Explore the various kinds of narrative structures and their utility and power depending on your objective and the needs of the audience

    • Framing techniques: Discover how framing can shape the perception of your message and influence the way your audience interprets and responds to your ideas.

  • III. Power of Presentation

    • Managing Stage Anxiety: Familiarize with a mental model to reframe stage anxiety and choose from a variety of techniques to address physical and mental stage anxiety symptoms.

    • Stage management: Address stage nerves, manage stage presence (in person and virtual) and learn how to effectively utilize the stage to enhance your message and engage your audience

    • Beginning and ending your speech: Learn and practice the techniques to establish connection with your audience right from the start till your memorable end.

    • Body language: Explore non-verbal communication cues and techniques to convey confidence, authenticity, and charisma through your posture, gestures, and facial expressions.

    • Voice and Diction: Develop your vocal skills, including intonation, projection, and articulation, to effectively deliver your message with clarity, impact, and professionalism.

    • Ethos, pathos, logos: Master the persuasive techniques of appealing to credibility (ethos), emotions (pathos), and logic (logos) to influence and connect with your audience on a deeper level.

    • Cialdini's 6 principles of persuasion: Dive deeper into Cialdin´s six principles of persuasion and learn how to apply them ethically to influence and persuade your audience.

    • How to be charismatic: Learn what the elusive concept of charisma really means and how you can become more charismatic

  • VI. Power of Person

    • Authenticity and self-expression: Learn how to tap into your authentic self, unleash your uniqueness, and express your ideas with conviction and passion.

    • Executive Presence: Delve into the core elements of Executive Presence: confidence, communication, and charisma. Foster authentic connections by using appropriate language, and exhibiting active listening skills to establish credibility and authority

  • That's totally OK. The program focuses on helping you build your speaking skills - you can choose the channel to deploy those skills. This can be at work, for your business or as a coach or consultant.

    The program is built in such a way that the material is completely transferable, whether you're seeking to create an impact in your company or your field, in general.

  • Everything is online — no travel is required.

    Please expect to invest 3-4 hours weekly to do justice to the video training and the live online sessions.

  • This program has been designed and will be delivered by a master trainer and executive coach who has trained leaders and leadership teams in more than 40 countries.

    MTS  is action-oriented, purpose-driven, and transformative.

    MTS needs you to be ready to do the heavy lifting and be ready to receive and offer feedback.

  • Many of us have had doubts at one point or another about whether we're really qualified. In fact, there's a module in the course about "dealing with self-doubt" or what I like to call mastering the little inner critic voice. If you have no training or experience, then of course MTS won't magically help with that. But if you're a smart professional who has been working hard and you know in your heart you have something to offer, MTS will teach you the skills and strategies to get your ideas more heard and create an impact.

  • MTS will be delivered online via Zoom, a platform to store the videos and a community connection tool such as WhatsApp. As such basic skills will suffice.

  • I strongly recommend that you participate in all seven live online sessions. But if you miss one, it’s not a disaster. You can send in your questions in advance and you will receive a time-limited recording of the session. 

  • Well, if you were my coaching client I’d ask you to: Body Check: How does the thought of joining make you feel? Excited? A bit scared but thrilled? That's a green light.

    Voice Check: Is it your inner wisdom or inner critic talking? Listen to wisdom, and question the critic. Especially if it's saying you're not "good enough" for this group.

  • No. MTS is intentionally unaccredited and informal.

    If you would like a certificate upon completion, I'm glad to provide one. But to be clear, the Make the Stage Course is intended as a personal learning tool for you, and there is no formal certificate through an accreditation body. This is an investment in your personal growth which I believe will pay off in many ways than you may have considered.
